Homeschooling Mom who is also a college student
I have a bachelor's degree and have retired from my career as a college advisor to home school my second and third children. I have decided to also be a formal student and obtain a certification about fitness and wellness from my local community college. I have taken four courses so far and I have enjoyed the topics but how the courses are delivered leave a lot to be desired. I have five more courses to take and I look forward to doing so in the next three terms. I feel that getting As in these courses is helping me to understand what it is like to be a student and helps me to be a better teacher for my own kids.
Some lessons I'm remembering are:
1) don't procrastinate
2) submitting something is better than nothing
3) getting as many of the available points as possible gives more freedom for circumstances out of my control later on in the term
4) deep diving into subjects I'm interested in allows me to work through the topics I'm not so much interested in
5) showing up to the material regularly (even using a specific schedule) allows for me to get it all done on time
In the next learning period for my kids I hope to pass on these lessons to them.
