Tuesday, the day after
Today I had the kids assignments laid out in their school table (dining room table) first thing in the morning and provided date and time deadlines for some of their assignments. This helps with clarity and allowed them to know exactly what was expected of them.
The now 14 year old 8th grader refuses to write - to get his writing muscle stronger we are going to require him to do one short writing assignment each morning. It is timed and the expectations is that it will take between 15-30 minutes to write. Four are provided and the fifth is free write. We'll prioritize this and tie it to his device access.
The little 9 year old fourth grader will be required to do a daily free write - at this time they like to tie it to what has been happening in their life. So they do calendaring first and then move to their writing (minimum three sentences) which also requires a picture.
Looking to document our efforts more on this blog.
